elizabeth weintraub: A Small Informal ActiveRain Meetup - 10/19/16 09:09 AM
It's been awhile since I've had lunch with my friend, and fellow ActiveRain blogger,  Elizabeth Weintraub. When she called about a month ago and said, "If we don't put it on the calendar, it'll never get done," so we calendared it!

Today was a gorgeous day in Old Sacramento. It's blue skies with temps in the high 70s.

The Firehouse Restaurant is always a charming venue for a special lunch.  So, that's where we headed.

The food was amazing, especially the sweet cakelet dessert with creme, topped with an out of this world caramel sauce.

elizabeth weintraub: Perfect Combination: Chanel - Ella's - Lightfoot - Mermaid - 10/03/13 01:47 AM
I remember it was mid-summer when fellow ActiveRainer, Elizabeth Weintraub, rang me up, and said, “how’d you like to go to a Gordon Lightfoot concert?” She had managed to latch onto a pair of front row seats. However, Elizabeth’s husband, Adam, was going to be out of town. Of course I did what any self-respecting human, who had lived through the 1970s would do. I answered, YES!
The summer continued at its busy pace. Before I knew it, the awaited concert arrived last evening!
The singin’ and strumming’ wasn’t to begin at the Crest Theater in downtown Sacramento until 8:00 pm, providing plenty … (23 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: What pirates eat when t' booty has been temporarily misplaced - 09/19/12 08:48 AM
I woke early t' an email from Elizabeth Weintraub this mornin'.
“Lunch - Today,” she asked? o' course I just knew that Elizabeth had t' realize this was September 19th, “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” and she wanted t' celebrate.
“Where?” was me response.  When she replied “China Buffet,” me thought, aaarrh, ole Elizabeth has misplaced her booty agin. “China Buffet” be tasty, and takes barely a silver doubloon t' please t' proprietor.  She wants t' do it cheap!

Imagine me dismay when she told me she didn’t have a pirate hat. How in today’s world does it happen that folks wander around … (23 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: Sometimes You Are the Windshield - Sometimes You Are the Bug - 08/18/12 11:44 AM
This has been a difficult week.  Had I not been able to find some irony and humor in it, it likely would have been far worse.
My cat friend, Sybil died on Thursday afternoon.  Sybil was 15, and shared home with me, and my dog Kodi, for most of her years.  I have written about these two before.  Sybil loved Kodi, but Kodi only tolerated Sybil.
Since Sybil has left us, Kodi has been quite depressed.  On the first day, and part of yesterday, he was found much of the time, laying on the little grave created for her.  I stayed close … (39 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: Three ActiveRainers Know How to Escape a Rainy Day - 04/11/12 08:32 AM
When I stepped out of my house at about 11:30 am today, it was pouring rain, with a lot of hail slurried in.  What a perfect day to have lunch at Biba’s in the midtown section of Sacramento.  Biba’s is known for her wonderfully authentic Italian dishes with the freshest of ingredients.  And the restaurant has received accolades by food aficionados of many respected places – Gourmet Magazine, Travel & Leisure, Restaurateur, to name a few.
Owner, Biba Caggiano, is the noted TV Chef Author and Teacher of Italian Cooking, who adds her special magic and delight to her dishes of Northern Italian decent.

elizabeth weintraub: Therapy - 07/06/11 12:13 AM

The thing about life is no two people will perceive the same event in the same light.  If you don't believe me, simply seat 5 artists in front of a mighty Oak, and the brush strokes to canvas will vary significantly.
Yesterday was finally Nimbus Day!  I had blogged several days ago, in anticipation of this event.  And Fellow ActiveRainer, Elizabeth Weintraub, hung the "Gone Fishing" sign up on her blog.  If you know Elizabeth, you also know she is a "hard-driving" short-sale specialist, who is usually so focused on business, it takes an act of God to pry loose the rigid … (19 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: Keeping Cool at The Nimbus Dam Recreation Area - 06/25/11 12:16 PM

A couple weeks ago, fellow ActiveRainer, Elizabeth Weintraub dials me up and says, "I think we should go fishing.  It might be nice to just sit in a boat, fish and relax a little."  I guess even a Sacramento Short-Sale Specialist needs to take a break once in awhile:-)
Because Elizabeth's husband doesn't really enjoy fishing, I wanted to try to help Elizabeth achieve her vision.  Even though I'm not much into fishing either.  But fortunately, I know folks in my family who are.
So early this morning I carved out a few minutes of time to scout out a local place I hadn't been to in … (24 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: A Place of Soothing Whimsical Delights - 05/25/11 02:33 PM
(Slide Show contains 12 images)
Some days are just worth living more than others.  And this was one of them!
My friend, and fellow ActiveRain blogger, Elizabeth Weintraub had decided a couple of weeks ago that we should get out of Dodge, and head to Yountville in California's Napa Wine Country.  "We can do lunch at The French Laundry," she gushed.  I had heard wonderful things about The French Laundry, but also knew it wasn't open for lunch during the week.  Still, I wanted to go to Yountville since I hadn't been through the little village for several years.  I also suspected … (34 comments)

elizabeth weintraub: Good Food - Good Company at Akebono's - 03/16/11 02:42 PM

One of the great things I enjoy about ActiveRain is the connection with other real estate professionals, who have expertise and experience in one market niche or another.  Here in the Greater Sacramento area, I have found a great lunch pal, and fellow ActiveRain blogger, Sacramento Short Sale Agent, Elizabeth Weintraub.  Every couple months or so, Elizabeth and I will find a place to hunker down for an hour or so, and share a meal.
Today, we headed to Akebono's at 4960 Freeport Boulevard (near Land Park).  Although there are several locations around town, I hadn't experienced Akebono's.
Recently, I have blogged about Mikuni's Restaurants, … (15 comments)
