Denver Center for the Performing Arts - Denver

Denver Center for the Performing Arts

Denver has an Arts Complex in the heart of downtown known as the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.     In this 4 block, 12-acre sight, you will find 6 facilities for Broadway theatre shows, music & dance.

The construction began on this complex in December 1974 and Boettcher was the first to open in March of 1978.     Interestingly, it was modeled after the Berlin Philharmonie in Germany.    The Temple Buell opened its doors for the first time in 1991.     Today we enjoy all six venues yearly for events such as the Colorado Ballet and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

Love, Sex & The Second City
9/13-10/9/11

The Liar
9/16-10/16/11

To Kill a Mockingbird
9/29-10/30/11

Hair
10/4-10/16/11

The venues you will be able to enjoy these performances are - Boettcher Concert Hall, Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Chambers Grant Salon, Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex & Studio Loft.

Performances coming are  American Night   10/7-11/20/11     Blind Date    10/11-11/6/11 & the big hit    LION KING    11/2-12/4/11.

DCPA ticket info

There is an 8 story parking garage that can park 1700 vehicles, and the entry is on Arapahoe & 13th.    There is additional parking at the Convention Center (Speer & Champa).   For taxis, your drop off would be 14th & Curtis, and by taking light rail, exit 14th & Champa.    Taking RTD bus, there are 15 routes that stop within one block of the Complex.

While you are downtown enjoying the experience, with a current subscription, you will receive discounts and/or free items at several restaurants in the area.     Call Open Table for reservations prior to your show!     Visit the DCPA website for additional information.

Debb, some of these theatres are large, and others are the smaller venues.    All provide great views of the stage with Broadway performances!

Hi Joan, that's interesting about the Denver Center for Performing Arts.   The Berlin Philharmonie amazingly was built in the early sixties and with its appearance way ahead of its time.  Is the orchestra in the Denver Center for Performing Arts seated in the center of the performance hall as well?

Rebecca, I would have thought you would enjoy some of these plays!

Silvia, I was thinking you may be interested with the background having German architecture, and the symphony plays at Boettcher.

Kristine, I was thinking that play sounds good, but also HAIR, as that was popular when I was younger.

Jennifer, in any large City, you should find a cultural arts venue, and we have many stages in which to choose!

Barbara, this venue is in the heart of downtown Denver, easy access!

Lisa, it is usually pretty full, and fun to incorporate a nice downtown dinner prior to a performance!

Kwee, I do these for the public with HOPEFULLY as much info as they need, but do give the Internet location/phone number for additional information I may have left off!

Karen, my Realtor friend and I may go to the Lion King, we are still trying to get our schedules meshed!   That is the tough part!
