My Showcase of Florida- Come See for Yourself!

I thought I’d live in Texas, my birthplace, for my whole life, and when we moved to Florida for my husband’s job, I thought my life was over.

However, my neighbor told me 2 very important things:

1. Root where you are planted

2. Wait until you spend your first winter in Florida…. you’ll never leave.

It’s been over 26 years and with the exception of a few moves for work, we’re still here!

Why Florida?

1. Just like Texas… it’s big.. and big means varied.  If you visit Tallahassee, our state capital, it’s almost like you’re in Georgia with its beautiful forests.  It can take you all day to drive from the panhandle of Florida down to Key West!  And when you arrive in the Keys, it’s like being in a different country except everyone speaks your language and you don’t need a passport.  And you’re in a different time zone: Key’s Time!

2.Good weather all year!  The average winter temperature in South Florida, for example, is 68 degrees!  And up in North Florida, the average temperature in the winter is 53 degrees!  Not bad!!!

3 There’s always something you can do, and you don’t have to worry about doing it with millions of other people!  During the season there are art festivals, farmer’s markets  and fairs going on just about every weekend.  You can go to the Delray St Patrick’s Day Parade, for example, and while it is growing each year because of its popularity, it’s still easy to attend.

4 The Beaches, lakes and rivers - Florida has 4038 square miles of total water area, 663 miles of beaches, 1197 miles of coastline, and more than 11,000 miles of rivers, streams and waterways.  You can kayak, canoe, swim, surf, fish, scuba dive, water ski, Paddleboard or most anything else you’d want to do in,under or on the water!

5 Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach-  It is where we’ve chosen to live and why not…… it was recognized as the “Most Small Fun Town in the United States.”

6. You’ll never want for visitors because all of your friends and family will want to come for a visit….. especially between December and March!

One of my favorite places- Delray Beach-surf, sand and relaxation

Good morning Kathy,

Well you have managed to entice us all to visit FL especially Delray Beach! You are the ambassador for your community! I actually lived in Pensacola while my ex-husband was in jet training with the Navy. Loved the beaches and the weather was very inviting!

Howdy and morning Kathy

Kathy my AR friend, Florida is a mighty fine State which offers folks a lot to enjoy about it, whether they live there or are visiting! Back in the late 60's I lived in the Southern part of Florida.

Happiness sure is Homemade

Have a good one

I know the area and I agree, it is truly beautiful. I would love to relocate south to warmer weather and have the beach nearby. Snow is not my friend.

Kathy, I bring warm memories back to me our my very early days as a child, summer vacatoins and now quick escapes to Florida for a few days of rest and relaxation and of course good seafood.
