Mrs. Buyer Agent - WHY did you let the buyer bring dogs in the home?

By

Some days you just would not believe the situations a Real Estate Agent is put into. Recently Mrs. Buyer Agent made a showing quite interesting by bringing a buyer with 6 kids to a showing to liven things up. Mrs. Buyer Agent - Can you please control your Buyer. For the second showing she spiced things up by asking to see the home immediately as they are out front and it is ok to not have myself present. My assistant set the showing up. When I got the message I headed right there given the last debacle with 6 unsupervised kids.

I pulled up and went inside to greet them, she only had 3 kids today, but what greeted me was 3 small dogs running around not on a leash inside the house. Actually only 2 were running around as one was relieving themselves in the living room.

Where is Mrs. Buyer Agent I asked Mrs Buyer. "Oh she is in the car taking a phone call" answered Mrs. Buyer. With fire in my eyes i stormed to Mrs Buyer Agent's car to tell her this is not acceptable. First Buyers should be accompanied and supervised, second children should be accompanied and third, (wait I did not see the kids, I heard the kids) where are the kids? and lastly why are there 3 dogs running around this home?

"It is vacant" she said, "no worries." I am worried, just becuase it is vacant, the home and the seller deserve at least some respect I let her know. She replied "They are buying it anyway".

Wait I have no offer, no deposit, no contract yet....

So fast forward to later in the day I get an offer from them, the offer is half the asking price and they asked for the home to be broom clean with the carpets professionally cleaned. (the same carpet their dog christened"    UGGGHHH... and how was your weekend?

IN CONCLUSION In this market, buyers need to be informed of current market conditions, With a shortage of homes for sale and more buyers entering the market, offers need to be realistic. Lastly just because a home is vacant it deserves some respect by both any potential buyer and especially the buyer agents who bring buyers through homes. All showings and Buyer Agents are not like this, but it only takes one bad one to really ruin ones day.

Hi Scott - You've certainly had an interesting run with this buyer's agent. I think I'd just ban her from showing my listings, after I had a chat with her broker. She needs a few refresher courses and some common sense.

I would send her the carpet cleaning bill since it is her clients dogs that she let in unsupervised that made it that dirty in the first place. I think you would have a strong case with the MLS for gettting her key taken away for about 30 days as well.

I'd be on the phone to the agents broker demanding they bring in a professional carpet cleaner immediately.  Then I would report them to your association for not accompaning the clients into the home.  Time to stop the insanity.

Thanks for sharing your experience.  I like the suggestion to allow the agent to pay for the carpet cleaning.

Good lord, Scott, I think my head would've exploded if I were there... What is with some people?  3 dogs - are you joking?  I really hope you heard back from that agent's managing broker.  And this one might even call for a TRIPLE! :)

I like Al's idea of writing a complaint to the broker, at least an e-mail. It that does not work, I would use a letter to the Association.

We have a hard time upholding the professionalism of the real estate community without agents like this.

I would NOT have this Buyer as my client either.
