Sometimes it Pays to Preview a Property! A few weeks ago I received a sign call on 6202 Ivymount Rd. Baltimore 21209 but it was too late for these potential buyers..the property had just gone to settlement. We had a lovely conversation and they told me they had an appointment to interview a buyer's agent. I wished them luck and said if any of my future listings fit their criteria, I would call them or their agent. A week or so later another call from these same buyers. I have been working with a wonderful young couple for quite a while...even door knocked for them last May. Showed them a house a few weeks ago that Did Not Smell Like Roses!! What most of you call buyers, I refer to as future sellers! Whenever the opportunity arises that I help with the purchase of a property, I want to make sure that the home is one I would be proud to represent as a listing agent. I remember about a hundred years ago...(well maybe I exaggerate a bit) when looking for our home, a call to an agent got me bombarded with questions. I just wanted to know the price or number of bedrooms and instead... I got interrogated. 'How much do you does your husband make? What's your credit score? What's your phone number? Where do you live? What's your social security number? What's the name of your first born?' This information was then used to call me at dinner time for harassment...get the picture? We've talked about this before, but I recently got a strong reminder of why it is an important discussion. Yes I do answer my phone; I answer if I don't recognize the number, and I answer "blocked calls." If it turns out to be a telemarketer I can always add the number as a " spam" call and hit the "Ignore" button next time (a huge timesaver.) But it is worth it to catch interested clients, as happened this week. I had an email this week from my IDX site asking questions about an active listing. One day while in a meeting I had a call from an out of state agent who wanted to know if I would be interested in a referral. Her clients needed to move to Baltimore by May and had a "bad" experience with another agent. She quizzed me on my internet savvy and I suggested she email me the clients' info so we could decide how best to proceed.
