repair work: Where do you put your money?

The question above does not ask about your bank, your 401K, or any other aspects of your savings. What it does ask is were do you put your dollars when you are investing in the upkeep up your home. Do you spend your dollars on the interior finishes? Things like Granite counter tops, Stainless appliances, wood floors? Or would you spend your hard earned dollars for a new roof, siding, or even gutters? These are some of the questions I hear from my clients, and here is what I usually recommend.
