This month, the ActiveRain challenge is to say in 350 words what this platform means to us. To most serious bloggers, we could fill a book.
My blogging began in 2006, posting most days, logging in every day, and speaking with an AR member daily.
I thought this challenge would be so easy. I could go back and pick out a bunch of blogs and take the collages from them. But many of the links no longer work, so I thought I would give you a list of what AR has meant and then a few posts to read.

Answer:
Does one print advertisement sell a house?
Does one flyer sell a house?
Does one For Sale sign sell a house?
Does placing the property in the MLS sell it?
Does one impromptu open house do the trick?
Does one radio show sell a house?
Does burying a St. Joseph statue sell a home?
Does one nosy neighbor sell a house?
Does one blog post sell a listing?
Does networking with others sell a house?
I don't think so!
Everything works sometimes.
Nothing works all the time!
It's a combination of all the above plus creativity, experience and a lot of hard work.

Today we had a smooth closing for very special first time home buyers.
It was because of ActiveRain that I met Winnie and Joseph.
A couple of month's ago, John Meussner asked me take on these qualified buyers. I was sure he knew them personally and only after our home inspection, did I find out it was through blogging that they connected.
John writes some wonderful information about mortgages and
Joseph, following his blog, decided to call him.
Joseph asked if he knew of an agent in Baltimore, where he and Winnie had just been offered jobs. That's where I came in.

Thankful for ActiveRain and the positive effects on my career and my life.

ActiveRain members got me through the loss of my Lee in 2014. Many buyers and sellers have found me through this platform. Through blogging, I receive instant gratification on a daily basis. Blogging helped me write my book Real Estate The Rome Way. HomeRome Realty was started because of advice received from blogging. My own radio show has been influenced by ActiveRain members. Inviting New Members
It's easier for me to get a new listing.
When meeting real estate professionals most are interested in my blogging.
In the past two weeks, I have invited nine people to join ActiveRain. These are people I connected with at a CNE course and an AR MeetUp. I have met them all personally and they each seemed very enthusiastic. They couldn't wait to get their invitation.
Of those nine, four joined but not one has written a blog. Even though I did do a phone and email follow up congratulating each one for signing up.

Is Always Fun
We have had many MeetUps, since I joined many years ago, and they just keep getting better. This week's Baltimore MeetUp at Bare Bones in Ellicott City was filled with good conversation and lots of good food. We had our own private room and a wonderful server, Kim.

Another well attended Rookie gathering today at GBBR put together by our energetic and very talented Kim Jones!
The presenter was Andy Tibbals, Sales Account Executive of RBI Realestate Business Intelligence www.rbintel.com which is a subsidiary of MRIS. Andy showed how to do market statistics and how to get market reports which can all be found on our MRIS sites. I am looking forward to using these free reports. Andy told us there are free webinars on Mondays and Thursdays 1:30-2:30. Will have to check them out.

It was in the middle of one of my busiest times – three new listings which meant three blogs, three MLS entries, three website updates, copies, photos…oh heck, you all know what goes into a new listing...plus, one settlement and contracts being negotiated for two buyer clients.

They put it right there in the press release for the whole world to see. This respected provider of online mentoring and training for real estate professionals, while announcing the Top 10 iSucceed Success Modules for 2006, slipped that four-letter word into the very last paragraph. Why would they do such a thing?

We were recently reminded by Rich Jacobson to "BLOG, or Get Off the Pot!" I took his challenge to get someone I invited to join ActiveRain and then get busy and BLOG.
It was very much like getting a new listing. No, it didn’t just "happen," it took time and patience and even some work. To get a new listing you have to have someone call or refer someone to you. Or you can contact expireds or unrepresented sellers (FSBOs). You can run an ad or send out postcards. You can network with friends and colleagues through business and social meetings.
