nawbo: Christmas Party Past - 12/11/20 03:45 PM
Share some holiday memories.

Just talking with a few of the gals and thought it would be a good idea to share a holiday party from a few years ago.
Each and every month a group of girls gets together for dinner, conversation, sharing, catching up, and laughter.  We have known each other for over thirty years.
It happened a long time ago when we met through NAWBO...National Association of Women Business Owners.
What started as wonderful and talented business owners, looking to support each other, evolved into a caring group of amazing friendships.
Tonight it was Dottie's turn to host and I now understand that … (16 comments)

nawbo: And The World Goes On - 09/12/19 11:41 AM

What happens when you are in a whirlwind and don’t write a blog for four days?
One thing for sure the world does not stop!
Most always, my days are full of appointments, listings, showings, or being in and out of properties with clients.
This whirlwind began Friday with an MREEA meeting, a listing appointment, a traffic jam and a walking tour and dinner in Fells Point with some very special people.
My Saturday plans were lunch with my friends Ann and Milo, a 3 pm showing of The Towers Condo and my standing Saturday Nite date with Karen.

Then things changed.

nawbo: Evening With Friends - 09/25/18 08:12 PM
For more than 30 years this group has gotten together every month.
We started in NAWBO ...
National Association of Women's Business Owners
This is a group that helped each other become successful business owners.
We all accomplished that goal.
Even though we no longer attend the business meetings ...we do meet monthly for dinner, lively conversation and terrific friendships.

nawbo: Dottie's Beautiful Party - 12/14/17 01:13 PM

Each year our friend Dottie does a magnificent Christmas Party, and this year was no different.
Tonight was our holiday celebration, and we all gathered at  Dottie's home and enjoyed each other's company, great food, beautiful decor, great conversation, lots of laughs, lots of hugs, a Chinese Christmas exchange, and lots of words of appreciation for each other.

Tonight it was Dottie's turn to host, and I now understand that saying 'hostess with the mostest.'  Dottie's home was festive, elegant, warm, welcoming, and oh-so-beautiful! Everyone was relaxed and made to feel so special.

nawbo: A Lovely Evening With Good Friends - 11/15/16 12:15 PM
This is a wonderful group of gals that I have known for over thirty years.
We get together every month for a special dinner.

Each month a different girl gets to choose their favorite place. Tonight it was Diane's turn and we had a lovely, lively evening at Liberatore's in Eldersberg.

Our food, wine and service were all perfect.
But nothing is more perfect than getting together with friends that you respect, love and admire.
There is always great conversation, laughter, sharing and a lot of love among a group of spectacular women.
I am thankful for their support and friendship.

nawbo: Friendship Shared At Liberatore's In Timonium - 06/20/16 01:27 PM

Every month a dozen plus girlfriends get together for dinner. We have known each other for over thirty years.
And each month the host picks a favorite restaurant or entertains at  home.
Anybody want to guess what I do?
Tonight was at Liberatore's in Timonium where we had excellent  food and superb service.
Below are a few photos of our delicious meals.

Twelve of us talked, laughed, shared what's been happening for the past 30 or so days,  had a wonderful meal including appetizers, wine and a celebration of Brenda and Alexis' recent birthdays.
What a joy getting together with these special women just to share...  friendship!

 A Lovely Evening With Friends

Last evening 13 friends got together like we do every month. I've known this group for a couple of decades. These gatherings are so much fun and the time just flies by. Each month one member hosts the dinner.

The Johns Hopkins Club in Baltimore

This a great place to go if you or someone you know is a member. The food is delicious, the service is perfect and if you are lucky to know someone, you can get a private room.

The entrees below are lamb chops, club steak and a crab cake platter.
Even the butter is elegant.

nawbo: This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend. - 12/29/11 02:26 PM
This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend.   What is my favorite gift? It is the one that arrived in the mail yesterday.
A very special book with twenty photos that chronicles a friendship over the past couple of decades. The front was done in my very special color..chocolate brown, and the opening photo was of Peg and me taken a few years ago.  Slowly flipping through the book, good times and memories flooded in. Within moments I was on the … (20 comments)

nawbo: NAWBO Women Mean Business - 11/15/11 01:47 PM

Today I went to a NAWBO meeting at the Rolling Road Golf Club in Baltimore. Having been a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners for about 2 dozen years, it was fun going to a meeting to see how the group has changed. When I went regularly, I knew everyone. Today the faces were new to me but I still saw that same enthusiasm from these young entrepreneurs. The speaker was Joanne M. Saltzberg CEO of WEB..Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore.

Two Events on One Tank of Gas...Rain Camp  and NAWBO in DC
Rain Camp Preface – NAWBO in DC
RainCamp was a fantastic time for me as you know. What I haven't talked about yet is what I did just prior to RainCamp. The night before I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with my dear friend and publisher Peg Silloway at the opening reception for the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) national conference, "The Power of One"  being held this year in DC.
What is so special about NAWBO?   My very  first NAWBO meeting is where … (15 comments)

nawbo: Blogging Update + Lunch - 06/29/09 04:06 AM
With almost 300,000 points, you would guess that I've been blogging for a while. So why would I go to a session on blogging that was aimed at beginning bloggers? Because I always learn something.
This was the third in a series of Lunch and Learn sessions on social media presented by Leah Messina of Sinuate Media for our Baltimore Regional Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners.) Leah did a great job on the Facebook and Twitter sessions, and I wasn't disappointed with her presentation on blogging.
She covered the basics, of course – why you would want … (29 comments)

nawbo: Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland - 06/04/09 01:43 PM
Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland
In the last week I've spent a lunch meeting learning about Twitter, I've been online for hours reading and communicating, and I've visited the annual publishing show in New York to find that most of the buzz was about the growth in ebooks and the influence of the Kindle on the world of books. Everywhere you go, people are texting and tweeting and blogging, often all sitting together and not actually talking to each other! Is this the future?
I don't believe so. Personal connections still make a difference whether you're talking about real … (68 comments)

nawbo: Getting High......Not Just Lunch! - 04/24/09 01:42 PM
Driving downtown to the Baltimore Inner Harbor, I realized that I never tire of the views of the buildings, the water, the wide streets and all the people. I was heading for 100 East Pratt Street for a NAWBOsponsored Facebook seminar. I was early because I wanted to be able to get parked and set up with my computer. This was a "Lunch and Learn," and what a good idea. It saves time, gets you fed, and you get some learning at the same time. We met at the office of law firm Tydings & Rosenberg, hosted by Content McLaughlin, the … (22 comments)

nawbo: These Women Mean Business ....And I Am One of Them Too! - 09/24/08 02:20 PM

And I'm one of them, too. In fact, I have been for years – a member of the Baltimore chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.  It's been the source of contacts and good friends over the years. This is where I first met Peg Silloway  my publisher,   over 20 years ago. At the time we were both in different careers. Peg was a CPA and I was a ceramic artist.

Yesterday the new season got under way with a lunch meeting at Gia Magliano's Confetti's Event Centerin Towson. Right away I saw a great marketing idea that Gia … (5 comments)

nawbo: Connected through a Stoneware Network - 04/14/08 12:45 PM
Have you ever been to a dinner party where everyone had something in common with someone else there? It's like a giant game of cat's cradle – the lines of connection criss-cross and eventually include everyone. That's what we had the other night when a friend hosted six couples. Like the excellent hostess she is, Malynda put together interesting people and the conversation never stopped. (Well, maybe the men didn't get to say much!)

There was a woman who owns a bank, another who is a senior mortgage loan officer, and another who is with a major residential builder. All the conversation … (10 comments)

nawbo: Connections! - 07/16/06 01:20 PM
Connections! Here’s a story about how you never know when a casual conversation will turn into a wonderful connection. This blog started in San Antonio last January while I was at the CyberStar® Summit. For three days I immersed myself in high energy multi-tasking, surrounded by the best of the best in the real estate business. On the flight back to Baltimore I was working on my tablet PC as usual, reading through my notes, and I started chatting with the woman in the next seat. (The tablet is a great conversation-starter – better than a dog, and you don’t have to … (12 comments)
