nawbo: This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend. - 12/29/11 10:26 PM
This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend. What is my favorite gift? It is the one that arrived in the mail yesterday. A very special book with twenty photos that chronicles a friendship over the past couple of decades. The front was done in my very special color..chocolate brown, and the opening photo was of Peg and me taken a few years ago. Slowly flipping through the book, good times and memories flooded in. Within moments I was on the

nawbo: NAWBO Women Mean Business - 11/15/11 09:47 PM
Today I went to a NAWBO meeting at the Rolling Road Golf Club in Baltimore. Having been a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners for about 2 dozen years, it was fun going to a meeting to see how the group has changed. When I went regularly, I knew everyone. Today the faces were new to me but I still saw that same enthusiasm from these young entrepreneurs. The speaker was Joanne M. Saltzberg CEO of WEB..Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore. Take a look at a few other posts

nawbo: Two Events..One Tank of Gas...RainCamp and NAWBO in DC - 06/18/10 08:39 PM
Two Events on One Tank of Gas...Rain Camp and NAWBO in DC Rain Camp Preface – NAWBO in DC RainCamp was a fantastic time for me as you know. What I haven't talked about yet is what I did just prior to RainCamp. The night before I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with my dear friend and publisher Peg Silloway at the opening reception for the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) national conference, "The Power of One" being held this year in DC. What is so special about NAWBO? My very first NAWBO meeting is where

nawbo: Blogging Update + Lunch - 06/29/09 11:06 AM
With almost 300,000 points, you would guess that I've been blogging for a while. So why would I go to a session on blogging that was aimed at beginning bloggers? Because I always learn something. This was the third in a series of Lunch and Learn sessions on social media presented by Leah Messina of Sinuate Media for our Baltimore Regional Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners.) Leah did a great job on the Facebook and Twitter sessions, and I wasn't disappointed with her presentation on blogging. She covered the basics, of course – why you would want

nawbo: Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland - 06/04/09 08:43 PM
Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland In the last week I've spent a lunch meeting learning about Twitter, I've been online for hours reading and communicating, and I've visited the annual publishing show in New York to find that most of the buzz was about the growth in ebooks and the influence of the Kindle on the world of books. Everywhere you go, people are texting and tweeting and blogging, often all sitting together and not actually talking to each other! Is this the future? I don't believe so. Personal connections still make a difference whether you're talking about real

nawbo: Getting High......Not Just Lunch! - 04/24/09 08:42 PM
Driving downtown to the Baltimore Inner Harbor, I realized that I never tire of the views of the buildings, the water, the wide streets and all the people. I was heading for 100 East Pratt Street for a NAWBOsponsored Facebook seminar. I was early because I wanted to be able to get parked and set up with my computer. This was a "Lunch and Learn," and what a good idea. It saves time, gets you fed, and you get some learning at the same time. We met at the office of law firm Tydings & Rosenberg, hosted by Content McLaughlin, the

nawbo: These Women Mean Business ....And I Am One of Them Too! - 09/24/08 09:20 PM
And I'm one of them, too. In fact, I have been for years – a member of the Baltimore chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. It's been the source of contacts and good friends over the years. This is where I first met Peg Silloway my publisher, over 20 years ago. At the time we were both in different careers. Peg was a CPA and I was a ceramic artist. Yesterday the new season got under way with a lunch meeting at Gia Magliano's Confetti's Event Centerin Towson. Right away I saw a great marketing idea that Gia

nawbo: Connected through a Stoneware Network - 04/14/08 07:45 PM
Have you ever been to a dinner party where everyone had something in common with someone else there? It's like a giant game of cat's cradle – the lines of connection criss-cross and eventually include everyone. That's what we had the other night when a friend hosted six couples. Like the excellent hostess she is, Malynda put together interesting people and the conversation never stopped. (Well, maybe the men didn't get to say much!) There was a woman who owns a bank, another who is a senior mortgage loan officer, and another who is with a major residential builder. All the conversation

nawbo: Connections! - 07/16/06 08:20 PM
Connections! Here’s a story about how you never know when a casual conversation will turn into a wonderful connection. This blog started in San Antonio last January while I was at the CyberStar® Summit. For three days I immersed myself in high energy multi-tasking, surrounded by the best of the best in the real estate business. On the flight back to Baltimore I was working on my tablet PC as usual, reading through my notes, and I started chatting with the woman in the next seat. (The tablet is a great conversation-starter – better than a dog, and you don’t have to
