contest: Look What I Caught These Agents Doing - Feb Share the Love Contest - 02/24/21 10:02 PM
In the February Active Rain contest we are sharing the love and focusing on positive things about working with agents or positive things that agents do.
As I thought about how to approach this challenge, I considered a Top 10 style list or perhaps doing a dep dive on a particular activity showing agents doing positive work.
Instead, I decided to do some primary research and began scanning my social media channels to catch my own real estate friends doing positive things.
Below are several examples of what I found. No opinions. Just straight up, real life snapshots of real estate professionals making a … (9 comments)

contest: Try a Snowshoe to Warm your Bones - Holiday Fun & Cheer Dec Challenge - 12/30/20 11:30 AM
The ActiveRain Holiday Fun and Cheer December Challenge inspired by both Carol Williams and  Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker prompted me to share one of my favorite adult beverage recipes.
It's especially enjoyable on a cold night.
We call the drink a Snowshoe and is very simple to make.
First, make a mug of your favorite hot cocoa.  This year I am enjoying a gift I received from my nephew - Moose Munch caramel flavored cocoa mix from Harry & David.
After your hot cocoa is ready, stir in some peppermint schnapps.  Rumple Minz has been my favorite since college in cold, blustery … (11 comments)

contest: One of Our Annual Traditions - Holiday Fun & Cheer December Challenge - 12/30/20 11:20 AM
The ActiveRain Holiday Fun and Cheer December Challenge inspired by both Carol Williams and Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker prompted me to share one annual tradition that shows up on our Christmas tree.
My dad Larry is a retired elementary school art teacher. He taught for 35 years in the Fulton (New York) School District. These days he still tinkers with arts and crafts. Each year he creates a handmade ornament for us.
In this photo you can see samples of them (sorry, we were not motivated to put too many ornaments on the tree this year).
This year, dad gave us … (5 comments)

contest: Giving Kudos - 239 Inspection Services in Southwest Florida - 01/28/19 06:28 PM
The January 2019 contest Giving Kudos was an easy choice for me. The award winning team at 239 Inspection Services in Southwest Florida is top notch.

I share this not only on a professional level but also on a personal level, as I am also a customer.

In 2017 when our home was being prepared for listing on the MLS we asked 239 Inspection Services to conduct a preliminary inspection so we could address any issues ahead of an official inspection when we went into escrow.

The thoroughness of their report was very impressive, all the way down to a light bulb … (2 comments)

contest: My Marketing Career Do Over - 3 Lessons from Failing - 12/28/16 09:59 PM
My "do over" story began in 2005 when I started an internet marketing company, National Web Leads, as a favor for some friends.  But it quickly turned into something much bigger. College friends encouraged me to start the company and license the cutting edge software they were creating to generate sales leads for financial services firms.
National Web Leads created hundreds of websites that would invite users to submit applications for home mortgages, auto loans and cash advances, selling that information to financial services providers. The company also sold advertising on those websites.
Unfortunately, after 8 years and growing revenue to more than $1.5 … (4 comments)

contest: How to Make an Average week Above Average - 11/28/16 01:48 PM
In the spirit of the November Active Rain contest seeking to help newbies to the workforce and ActiveRain, I offer this glimpse into an average week and some things that I look to do in order to make that week above average.
No matter if you are a real estate, mortage or other professional, chances are somewhere in your job description you need to be doing business development to be successful.
Real estate professionals need to secure listings and build their database of buyers from their sphere of influence which whould be ever expanding.
Likewise, licensed mortgage professionals need to be on the hunt … (3 comments)

contest: Paying it Forward with Blood, Sweat and Tears - 11/28/16 01:07 PM
Although I am of the mindset to be paying it forward all year long (it's in my DNA),  the holiday season is especially full of opportunities to show appreciation,  give thanks and help others. This holiday season I will be paying it forward in at least three ways - with my blood, sweat and tears.

Blood

Last week, instead of our regularly scheduled hour long program of education and … (11 comments)

contest: The Gift of Education - December AR Pay It Forward Contest - 12/02/14 01:51 AM
Buildings, parks and roadways are often named after a person who had memorable influence and impact within a community. When my Dad retired I wanted to do more than just buy some gift - I wanted to establish a legacy to commemorate his impact on the lives of several generations of families within our community. I found a way to Pay It Forward for my high school alma mater and honor my Dad simultaneously.
A Gift That Keeps Giving
My wife Susan and I revealed a retirement gift to my Dad after 35 years of teaching elementary art in the Fulton (New York) … (6 comments)

In Issue 35 We Touch On:100% Financing Still Exists!Win A Bid On A ForeclosureWhy Different Credit Scores Exist
I am surprised that I witnessed the Dow Jones Industrial Average break 12,000 this month amidst all the signs of a jobless recovery.  Even "Mr. Fed", Ben Bernanke himself, has little optimism about our so-called economic recovery (see his quote below). You would think that unrest in the oil rich Middle East and North Africa would cause investor confidence to falter - uncertainty is the enemy of stock … (0 comments)
