shopping for a mortgage: And she was... - 12/18/10 03:16 PM
When the guy told me to send the Declarations page to Quicken Loans, my brow sweat curious liquids of cynicism.
While in the Mortgage Biz, I grew up hating those companies who hired nothing but $12.00 an hour script-swearing sweat hogs who didn't know an ARM from an Amortization Schedule.  Of course, I opted for no guarantees in my own "expertise" in the form of a paycheck while doing so.  The give and take ...
Out of sheer curiousity, I wondered if maybe there was an off-chance that the person on the other line not only knew what they were doing ... … (20 comments)

shopping for a mortgage: ~Capitalistic Grace~ - 09/05/09 05:23 AM
The one thing I find missing from our Capitalistic Climate lies within the very title of this post.  I deal with the lack of grace all the time and am damn sure I'm not the only one.  Too many instances arise when you help folks, guide folks, try and point them in the right direction, and all of the sudden they disappear.  Without notice, without a word.

Perhaps they found a better deal. Can't win them all.  I'm cool with that.  That's competition and I don't fancy myself Rocky Marciano just yet.

Back in some of my more naive years, I … (31 comments)

This post was originally written in May of 2008 but I thought it was not a bad idea to re-post it now.  Amidst the talk of rock-bottom rates, there will be a lot of folks out there shopping for a mortgage.  So, from the synapses of my brain to your eyes... here's my recommendations when shopping for a mortgage:
I'm well aware that most of us fancy ourselves smart shoppers.  Whether we are buying a car, groceries, looking for the next Gas Station, sorting through bids on our next Home Improvement Estimate, shopping cell phone carriers...etc... we want the best deal.  We want it cheap … (22 comments)

shopping for a mortgage: So you think you are a smart shopper? - 05/13/08 01:18 PM
I'm well aware that most of us fancy ourselves smart shoppers.  Whether we are buying a car, groceries, looking for the next Gas Station, sorting through bids on our next Home Improvement Estimate, shopping cell phone carriers...etc... we want the best deal.  We want it cheap and efficient.
After over 7 years of being in the Mortgage Business and learning from and being trained by folks who have been in the business since Jimmy Carter took office, I've learned two things.  Like any job, this can be frustating as hell, but I absolutely love what I do.  I've also learned how to shop smart!  I'm … (46 comments)
