Overall, it is important to be consistent when installing vinyl siding. However, the consistency should be in the GOOD department, not the BAD. On a one-year warranty inspection, which I seem to do a lot of, I look top to bottom, inside and out. Walking around the house I have 20X binoculars that come in very handy. They have an image-stabilizing button so when I look at something nothing is shaking. As an aside, they are very fun to have at Redskin games! So, does the buying public know about how to choose a home inspector? How would YOU go about choosing a home inspector? One very common way is email. I happen to know this to be true. Think about it - does email seem like a good way to interview anybody? A doctor or dentist? A school administrator? A new boss? How about a plumber? It takes a lot of time by email, and the answers are likely not very complete! Sometimes when I am outside the house with a client we see indicators of what may be a problem once we get inside. Such was the case on this particular house. Outside along the rear of the house, a driveway had been added years after the house was constructed. The bricks at that location were disturbed, sagging, the mortar had been patched, apparently more than once, and water was pooling next to the foundation.
