As described in an earlier post, we got a chance to start our bathroom demolition for the do-it-yourselfer in Rancho Cordova. The owner will be doing the finish work and it is our job to get the room ready. This can be an adventure, since the building is 30-40 years old and has had a few others working on it in the past.

While looking at a home with extensive water damage yesterday, I came across this in the bathroom area. The cabinets were demolished without removing the counters or putting in any supports. So the first thing that came to mind was this – what if the counter fails. If the counter fails, there is a chance of the plumbing leaking again.

Things can get a bit ugly when it comes to improving your property. Sure the end result is a beautiful product, but are you ready for the transition period? If you haven’t experienced a home improvement project, the views may shock you at first. It’s not all that pretty when you start to pull things apart.
