family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Fun at the Green Bay Packer Loss!!! - 01/18/12 01:45 AM
I went to the Packer Game this past weekend.  It was cold and we had on at least 7 layers a piece.  My friend gave us some cool beer glasses that just seemed like a natural fit in the scheme of a Green Bay Packer playoff game.  Then we came across some dude with Christmas lights in his beard.  For my son, Brett, and me, it just seemed natural that we had to get the picture.  The dude was more than gracious!!!!

family fun: Speechless Sundays - My Two Little Lemon Heads - 01/14/12 04:53 PM
Most people who know me know that I'm an Iced Tea addict.  I hated beer when I first had it....but I learned to love it!  I hated smoking but grew to love cigars.  So....knowing my additive personality, I figured that coffee would be just one more thing that I hate, but would soon learn to love.  Soooooooo, I became an Iced Tea addict.  Still....am!!!  I'll give up anything, but never my brewed, unsweeetened Iced Tea.....and yes....with two lemons please.
My young ones finished the rest of my Iced Tea this week at my kid's basketball game.  Michelle.....my wife, saw the moment.....caught … (17 comments)

family fun: Speechless Sundays - My Masochistic Son!!!! - 01/08/12 10:41 AM
So we have a steam room that we like to hit in our house.  It's especially awesome during the cold winter months of December, January and February.  When we had our only flakes of the season a few weeks ago, we get the steamer as hot as we can and stay there as long as we can, and then when it gets too much to bear, we run outside and hit the snow.  Fortunately, we cool off much quicker than we heat up so we're out there not too long.
Here's Grant getting ready for the Packers in the Playoffs....trying to … (12 comments)

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Best Friends - 12/28/11 01:26 AM
It's not often that the kids are in sync with each other.  They all have their moments, but Tessa and Grant seem to be in love with each other.  Wish I could capture the moment, but like any married spouses they have their good days and bad days.  The best thing about these two is that they really love hanging with each other.   Now...as for the other three.....I need to duplicate this moment

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Dad's Rookie! - 12/21/11 01:16 PM
Nothing better than getting your own into sports.  My daughter, Claire, has her first season as playing basketball of any sort at all.  Never dribbled, never shot, but.....SHE'S VERY ATHLETIC!  She is into gymnastic, and is very even keel in all that she does, but it's a steep learning curve if you're not playing a long time.
This was one of her last games of the season.  In fact, then she had a double header.
SHE HAS NEVER SCORED A POINT ALL YEAR, BUT I told her that this is the one sport that it is acceptable to fight.
She was … (11 comments)

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Mom & Daughter at the Roller Rink - 12/14/11 03:24 PM
So my wife and I take our 9 year old out for her birthday party after Thanksgiving.  She's stoked.  Claire is my Steddy Eddie of the family.  They're all great in their own way, but she is Ms. Steady Eddie.  Needless to say, you would have thought that we purchased the entire Chuck E Cheese franchise.  After the older brothers got tired, she kept on keeping on.
Here is mom helping our four year old by acting as a pair of training wheels.  Life doesn't get much better now does it?

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Four Year Old living as a 9 Year Old - 12/07/11 02:37 PM
So....here she is at my other daughter's 9th Birthday, living high off the hog and thinking that she's a 9 year old 3rd grader.  Obviously, she isn't one of the girls, but you wouldn't know it by the looks of Tessa here.
She is riding in the wake of 8 different 3rd graders.  I've never seen her like this, but I will say that she sometjhing else.
Living, loving life, and wanting to be big.  Happy Wordless Wednesdays....

family fun: Speechless Sundays - Like Mother, Like Daughter - 12/04/11 08:34 AM

Gotta tell you, I love my women.  I don't think that I show my love for my wife nearly as much as I should, but I'll say that she does rock my world.  She's a great wife and a great mom of 5.  Our first two are boys and "boy" did my wife, pray, and pray, and pray, and pray for a girl.  She got two of them.  I imagine that it's for theses moments for them to bond.  Like I said....a chip off the ole block

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - A face that melts a dad! - 11/30/11 01:25 PM

Need I say anything more?  I'm on the road and coming back again tomorrow....but just one day makes the heart grow fond.  Here's my "Dude," Grant.  Looking like a model.  He's cute as a button, but a lot of boy.  Loves football, but has a heart of passion that could make the Pope cry.  Compassion and Passion all built into one!  Gotta love being a dad.

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Here's Who I'm Thankful for This Thanksgiving - 11/23/11 03:08 PM

OK....nothing over the top.  Nothing too outrageous.  Something a bit boring.  Something a bit old - fashioned, but in truth, my wife is someone who I am incredibly thankful for.  Remember that dream that you had as a kid?  Football player, Rock & roll singer, Astronaut, president.  Me?  My only dream was to get married to someone who loved me, have a bunch of off the wall kids who'd appreciate a freak daddy, like myself, and change the world.  Michelle took a leap of faith...and for that....
I'm THANKFUL!  Always will be....Thanks babe!  Happy Thanksgiving Michelle! … (9 comments)

family fun: Speechless Sundays - Rock & Roll Daughters, Part II - 11/20/11 10:42 AM

So....this past spring I went on my Daddy / Daughter date with my oldest daughter, Claire.  We went to the Rock & Roll night.  It was a lot of fun.  I have some pretty awesome pictures with us looking like we were serious rockers.  However, this time, we're just laughing and getting amped up for the big night.  It was a good night had by all!

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - Summer Loving - 11/16/11 03:25 PM

I hate the fact that the hot days of summer are over.  We're having a blast, but in the sunroom on our back porch, I have just done a great meal with my wife and her friends.  Now...it's time for me to put my young dude, Grant down for the night!  Sheer bliss.  Love the tan and the color that the summer gives us all.  I don't mind looking back when a good time was had by all.

family fun: Speechless Sundays - Happy Halloween from the Princess!!! - 11/06/11 06:19 AM

Pretty fun day last Friday at Tessa's pre-school.  All the parents got to come in and watch the parade.  It was fun.  Of course, Tessa seems as if she just won prom queen.  While I wouldn't want my kids vying for such an honor, I would be thrilled to here being the queen of a great family someday.  Seems to me as if she's go the walk down just perfectly!

family fun: Speechless Sundays - More Ridiculous Fun at the Bettag House - 10/30/11 03:00 PM

I used to work at a camp in Colorado during my summers.  It was a blast.  I was the athletic director and I was the head lifeguard as well.  So.....what I decided is that we had to have a huge pond as well as the same big raft that we hung out on all summer.  12 foot by 12 foot.  Here we are...day #1, unloading the wood.  Me and my youngest 4 unloading the wood.  Today, we are all done except for 4 boards.  We have 2 of the 4 barrels in place and am ready to do the launch!  … (6 comments)

family fun: Speechless Sundays - Family fun after Mass! - 10/30/11 03:06 AM

So....at our farm we have to travel about a half hour to go to mass.  So, last weekend, we decided to do it on Saturday afternoon/evening.  We were having a sleep over with cousins anyway.  Needless to say, the church in Sheboygan Falls is attached to the parochial school.  After every single mass.....my kids do the old fashion man powered.....
merry go round.   I was exhausted afterwards.  But they could do the old fashioned entertainment forever....provided dad gets new batteries in his body.

family fun: Family Fun at the Farm - 10/26/11 02:41 PM

OK....here I am with my 3rd and 4th kids at the farm.  Of course, my wife got this past weekend off, because, super dad that I am, stole the kids from her and absconded to the board with all five of the beasts!  She loves me more with all 5 out of her hair, but all 5 love me more because of all the one on one time that dad gave them away from work.
BEST PART....MY CELL DOESN'T GET RECEPTION AT THE FARM!!!! So....here it is, this past Saturday morning, big sis, Claire, and Grant get to go for … (12 comments)

family fun: Speechless Sundays - A Weekend With My Treasure! - 10/23/11 03:54 PM

So....MARRIED and father of 5 beasts, er Kids.  12, 10, 8, 6 , and 4.  RULE IN OUR FAMILY - Drink a lot, Pray a Lot.  Just kidding, but I do like the phrase.  So mom gets the weekend off.  I go up to our farm, which we're in the process of selling on contract to somie good neighbors, but enjoying a daddy weekend with myself, my 5 kids and no VETO power as my wife's not here.  Wife likes weekend away from kids...I like hanging with em all.  Here, I"m out letting my 8 and 6 year old drinving … (16 comments)

family fun: Wordless Wednesdays - THE POWER OF A SMILE!!!!! - 10/19/11 03:53 PM

I have to say that fall is by far, my favorite season.  I love hanging with my 3 boys and two girls.  For me, there's nothing better than a genuine, from the gut, heartfelt laugh!  This, right here is one of my all time favorite pictures.  The smile's not forced.  His gut is busting and all of his genuine thrills can't help but make you smile.

family fun: Wordless Wednesday - Rock & Roll Family!!!! - 09/28/11 04:43 PM

So what if I go to church every weekend.  So what if my kid goes to the local parochial school.  Our family really is the House of Rock.  Yes....Claire and I went to our annual daddy / daughter date the other day.  How great was that?  A lot of fun, for sure.  I got to wear my rock & roll fun and she got to dress a bit beyond her years.  The killer was when she got to play air guitar while I sang AC / DC's "You Shook Me all Night Long."  I'm beat!
