leverage: Is that the right tool for this? - 01/09/15 10:25 PM
You wouldn’t grab a hammer to drill a hole. That Phillips Head Screwdriver won’t loosen that lug nut.
If you are going to use a tool, it is first important to learn the intended and proper use of it.
so . . . Maybe the first and best question to ask prior to tackling any project is:
“Do I have the right tool(s) for this job?”
Followed by:
“If I had the tools, would I know how to use it (them)?”
If the answer is “No!” to either or both of the above questions, the next question:
“Should I be the … (0 comments)

leverage: Forms can be ACCELERATORS of your Business - 02/05/14 04:22 AM
I think it’s safe to say that most people loathe the notion of having to use FORMS and CHECKLISTS. What a BORE!
Don’t they just slow you down and keep you from hitting a fast pace to completion?
Maybe yes on the “slow you down” part, but that’s not all bad.
After all . . . Without the requirement to use forms and checklists, more commercial airlines would be falling out of the sky.
What’s good about them is that they keep us honest and consistent.
We drop fewer balls when we have appropriately supporting documents and tools.
With just the … (2 comments)

leverage: YOU’RE FIRED! - 01/01/14 03:08 AM
Not because you didn’t get it done . . . Because you told me you could do it and stood by your word until the last minute at which point you matter-of-factly said that it couldn’t be done . . . and left everyone involved hanging in a void.
Home Sellers had moved out of the house – Buyers had vacated their apartment all in faith that your promise would be delivered.
Your failure to get it done took the air out of everyone’s balloon and likely left the clients so crushed that they lost faith in the process and everyone … (3 comments)

leverage: When you don’t know what to do . . . - 05/04/13 02:19 PM
There are those times when we simply don’t know what to do.
Of course the strong, burly types would never admit to needing help or counsel.
Most Men wouldn’t DARE stop and ask for directions.
Many professionals are so proud of their depth of knowledge, they wouldn’t even think of showing any sign of weakness (ineptitude) by having to call someone for advice.
Guess what?
We ALL have these moments of not knowing what to do.
IMHO the strongest amongst us are the ones who know who to call . . . and don’t hesitate doing so.

leverage: Screwing up a perfectly good plan - 12/05/12 06:41 AM
The Nashville “MTA” (Metro Transit Authority) bus system has undoubtedly put a LOT of thought into efficiency and timeliness of the buses as they pick up and deliver riders.
Evidently, they also considered ways for these buses not to disrupt the natural flow of auto traffic by creating “Turn-outs” which allow the buses to enter their own lane for pickup/delivery instead of clogging the road.
That painstakingly devised plan isn’t working . . . not because it’s a bad plan, but because:
the drivers aren’t using the turn-outs and instead are blocking traffic, AND the “MTA Marketers” who sell bus … (0 comments)

leverage: Organized enough to handle a high volume of business? - 10/04/12 06:01 AM
Believe it or not, one of most prohibitive barriers inhibiting the average person from being productive at a high level is ORGANIZATION (lack thereof).
Most folks in sales have the ability, agility, capacity, skill set to generate more than “enough” leads to fill their business pipeline, but when it comes to the follow-up and servicing of these leads, they fall short . . . and the leads lose interest and buy elsewhere.
This is a gaping hole in the bottom of the lead bucket – very inefficient.
How do you patch this hole?
Gary Keller offers an easy solution . . . … (6 comments)

leverage: Failure to Launch due to Failure to Communicate #in - 06/15/12 01:16 AM
In most real estate transactions . . .
and most business transactions . . .
and most relationships (Biz AND Personal) . . .
Failure to LAUNCH (Succeed – Meet the goal or objective) happens because of:
FAILURE TO COMUNICATE
DON’T DO THIS!
It’s just plain SILLY.
There’s enough raplexity (Rapid Complexity) in our world already . . .
Failure to communicate is akin to throwing jet fuel on a raging fire with the hope that it’ll die down . . .
or being an ostrich (Sticking your head in the sand with the belief: “If you cannot see THEM, THEY … (2 comments)

leverage: Apprentice – Intern – Mentee . . . Priceless relationships #in - 05/19/12 02:02 AM
In business, many folks wonder if there really IS such a thing as “Win-Win”
After all, “Business” always has some level of competitive undertone even if not ostensible. There’s just one pie, and we’re all in business to get our “Fair Share” . . .
Having said that, how is it a “Win-Win” for a seasoned Professional to take a newbie under her wing as an Apprentice – Intern – Mentee?
Of course, we see the benefit for the newbie who gets to shadow and learn and do under the tutelage of a proven expert. This provides no guarantee of long term success … (2 comments)

leverage: Getting YOUR word “out there” (Attracting the Right Prospects) #in - 03/07/12 11:44 PM
We like to think that we can “Market” our biz . . . and prospects will come running from the edges of the earth to do business with us . . .
The more of this we do, the more (it seems) we learn what DOESN’T work.
Many folks stay the course of throwing more money at the effort with the notion: “If I get LOUDER with my message, more people will come.”
That’s when one day we wake up and small the coffee . . . We’ve fallen prey to the “ME ME ME” enigma . . . This is the trap … (3 comments)

leverage: OPE #in - 10/19/11 04:27 AM
OPE OCTOBER 19, 2011 BY BARRY OWEN  OPE = Other People’s Expertise
OPE is the leverage you need to take full advantage of to accomplish all that you wish to accomplish.
Seriously!
How effective and efficient would you be if your were able to focus ONLY on those things that align directly with your personal skill set (Expertise)?
Sure! You can learn how to do all that other stuff . . .
You’re plenty smart and capable, but what’s the opportunity cost?
While you’re learning how to do the stuff you really don’t need to know how to do, you could be honing your skills … (0 comments)

What kind of crazy math is THAT?
Well . . . Walkin' the dog this morning I was thinking about how great ideas come together. Often, there's a person who conjures in her own mind what she believes to be a great idea. She thinks about it and chews on it and starts adding form to it inside her head for a while until she becomes such a believer that she cannot keep it inside any longer . . . She must SHARE her idea lest her head explode.

leverage: Mega-Team Redefined . . . #in - 04/08/10 07:58 AM
Developing a co-creative, highly leveraged, extraordinarily large (of epic proportions), TEAM of high achieving real estate professionals might be easier than it sounds.
Let's just call this a "Social Experiment" for now.
It's all theory at this point . . . a concept . . . a VISION!
Some folks would call it a crazy dream.
Well, I believe that in this particular economic and political climate, the inmates have overpowered the established authority and are now running the asylum.
The "rules" may no longer apply as defined in the "normal" business environment.
Entrepreneurs are springing up EVERYWHERE!
Why?
Many very … (1 comments)

leverage: The Military knows just a little bit about effectively reaching an objective. MOSSMOUSE works in every scenario - Business and personal #in - 03/15/10 11:49 PM
When I was serving in the Army, I attended a LOT of training, and ALL we seemed to do was PRACTICE, PRACTICE PRACTICE and pray that we would never have to perform (in battle).
The ante was high in the Army because if we didn't learn it well . . . and/or were not well practiced, we would likely botch the performance thereby risking life and limb unnecessarily.
Sound familiar?
To achieve success (mastery) at ANYTHING, one must have clarity of purpose and be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.
The primary training tool of the military seemed to … (3 comments)

leverage: Why LOCAL instead of international? There's more to it than economic reasons. #in - 12/20/09 10:44 PM
Sure, you might be able to buy "stuff" cheaper at a mega-super-store with international reach, but how's that compare to buying at the locally owned and operated establishment?
Perhaps you're buying the same stuff . . . How's the shopping experience?
Any time I travel, I go to the local restaurants. That's where I meet interesting people and learn the real story of the town.
At the local hardware store, I'm seldom in the store longer than a minute before a friendly and helpful person guides me to find what I seek.
I get excited when I see cool and interesting … (1 comments)

leverage: Bartering makes a great come-back as Business people learn leverage - 11/05/09 10:25 PM
NO ONE Succeeds alone!
Every business relies on LEADS to bring new "Listings" (Customers/Clients) and must develop appropriate LEVERAGE in order to sufficiently navigate the intricacies of the business and serve the needs of the clients.
We build LEVERAGE through:
- adoption of sound MODELS (Success Leads Clues - follow a business model that is working for other professionals in your field - MREA)
- Innovative creation of SYSTEMS which enable EFFICIENCY and FLOW so that the mechanical aspects of our business happen automatically in a uniform and consistent manner
- Our relationships with and THROUGH PEOPLE
Many folks understand LEVERAGE … (4 comments)

leverage: Whatever your goal - Success through others is your path of least resistance! - 09/24/09 11:34 PM
"Success Through Others" can be very elusive to folks who have a bad habit of surrounding themselves with the "wrong" people.
Change THAT habit and begin paying closer attention to who gets to hang with you, and I promise you'll reach your goals MUCH faster but only to the extent that those folks you are hanging with reach THEIR goals.
"Birds of a feather flock together"
If you're in business with people who you think are not pulling their share of load, what's that say about YOU?
Gary Keller spoke at Mega-camp about leverage through people and made it very clear … (3 comments)

leverage: 15 and 2 and 5 equals 24 when your purpose is clearly defined - 07/09/09 12:15 AM
Every day, I try my best to do one less thing and get the same or better results.
Call me "LAZY", but the truth is that one of my goals in life is to work less and play more . . .
Yet I have financial goals and am fully aware that there's gotta be a steady, smooth, flow of income in sufficient quantity to fulfill my dreams.
The only way to get "there" is to REALLY understand the business model (Machine) that's gonna get me there.
The fewer moving parts, the better.
The more complex a model is, the less … (2 comments)

Do you have a grip on your technology?
No really . . .
How do you do it all?
Of course, you have a facebook page, and all of your friends and family and clients and lots and lots of people you don't know but they claim you as their "friend" . . . and there's lots of "Wall writing" and poking and inviting to discussions and groups etc . . . If you're not careful, Facebook can become a full time job.

leverage: Vital Few? or Trivial Many? - 12/29/08 11:15 PM
Here's what's not changing . . .
A disproportionately small number of people/organizations are responsible for a majority of the production.
Pareto theorized that 20% of the people (The Vital Few) yielded 80% of the production while 80% of the people (The Trivial Many) yield only 20% of the production . . . 20% of what you do yields 80% of the results . . . and the construct from there is that to be successful , you've gotta know what your 20% activities are - and what your 80% activities are . . .
Knowing the difference is not quite … (4 comments)
