It is that time of the year.
The deer flies and mosquito's are horrendous.
i can't even get close to the woods without long shirts and pants and a can of off.
It is no wonder why we are seeing the deer around a lot. The mama's are bringing the babies out also.
Fun to watch them run and play.
But, with that we need to watch the ditches as the deer are spending more time in the open trying to evade the flies.

When buying a lake home there are things to consider that you normally would not.
Here is a short list...
Do you want a fishing lake, and if so, what kind of fishing do you want.
Does the lake you are interested in have any kind of motor restrictions.
Are there speed limits.
How about jet skis
Are there dock size restrictions.
How active is the DNR in how the lake is managed.
Are there any invasive species.
What is the current fishing audit of the lake.
Can you improve the shoreline and if so, do you need a DNR permit.

I have said it before...I am an avid hunter.
I know...that is not a popular comment for many.
But for those of you looking for hunting land...Now is the time to look.
I have several great parcels for the above average hunter.
These great parcels have either had light pressure or have been managed for above average Deer.
This can be a hard decision...Let my experience help you with this.

Well, I was not able to keep up with the updates like I had wanted.
but a quick run down...in the first have seen 10 of 12 reams in first place at some time during the first half of the season.
The game is scored on points and the first half has all kinds of large point swings. Now after the All Star game, those swings and place changes are less and less.
Those on the bottom are not out of it yet. My first year I was close to the bottom at the All Star break and won the season on the last day.

I was shopping at Costco the other day. I was buying a large bag of Purina dog food for my Wonder Dog, Butch.
A lady behind me in the check out line asked me if I had a dog.
What did she think I had an elephant.

WE are sitting at the closing table and all the " I's " are dotted and T's are crossed.
"So, What are you going to do in the house when you move in?" Asked Mrs. Seller.
The buyers start to spill their guts on the major renovations they have planned.
Mrs. Sellers, I can tell is holding back the tears. Her home (former home) is going to become a totally different house. The hose she cared and fussed over for more than 30 years is going to be dismantled to the studs and started over.

I took a few days off this past weekend.
I did get a few comments in, but that was about it.
Working on a smart phone in an area that has poor coverage is not fun.
My big fingers make spelling hard and I don['t always catch all the mis-spellings which irritates some readers.

The National Weather Service has been saying this all week.
So, we have had a lot of notice.
But, if and when the storm hits...most will not have the basics ready.
Fresh water
Extra water for flushing toilets.
Easy prep foods or ready made.
Flashlights with good batteries in them
Charge your cell phones early
If you are really prepared, you will have a portable generator for prolonged outages along with some extra gas.
It takes just a few minutes to prepare. If you are prepared you will feel less of a victim and have ability to help others that may need help.
Don't forget about the pets!!!!

This is a question we hear a lot some times.
Many people will swear that they have.
Others don't believe and will scoff at the idea of others seeing them.
Well, I am going to say that I have seen a flying saucer!
My wife and I were having breakfast one morning and I asked if she was going to go on a diet.
It was right after that that I saw the flying saucer...and the cup right behind it!
I won't go into what happened next, but me and the dog become extra good friends!

There is just something about a fire that is soothing.
If you just clear the mind and stare into the flames...it is mesmerizing!
Watching the flames jump around you can leave all your concerns behind for just a little while.
When i get to my weekend cabin, or just out in my back yard...the first thing I do is start the camp fire.
I burn more wood during the summer camp fire than some of my relatives do hearing their homes in the winter.
Take from me what you want...just leave my fire alone!!!

I was close to a Majestic Bald Eagle this past weekend.
I was able to get a couple of close shots.
Upon looking at them, the plumage looked really rough.
Almost like it had been in a fight.
But then I realized the time of year.
Many birds are going through the molting process.
That is where they lose part of their feathers and grow in new ones.
See all of the what feathers on the body, those are down feathers. They are the ones that help keep the birds warm. Those will be replaced in a couple of weeks.

I have been called a lot of things in my life.
Crazy as a Loon is just one of them.
But, the Loon is a very smart bird.
It knows danger quickly and will sound up the call...but NEVER leave it's children behind.
I have done some crazy things in life, but I can't be accused of leaving family behind to fend for themselves.
Yes, I may be crazy as a Loon and love to have fun, but be sure of one thing...Family or clients...no one is left behind!

The hot seat is not the place to be.
If you know you will be there, well, you can prepare.
But, if you don't it is a different ball game.
The fire starts like this and fairly easy to put out...IF...you take the Bull by the horns and tackle the issue right away.
If you wait or deny the issue, the flames start to expand.
Continue to ignore or deny and the flames get out of control.

I hit a special spot while out fishing.
It is beg enough for my boat and that is about it.
I was there first...I thought!
But, I soon found out that I was not first, and I was not real welcome either!
This family of otters beat me to this spot and were not happy I was barging in.
After a few photo's I backed out and left them to their business.

Ole and Sven were working on a car...Lars was walking by.
Lars, what you have in the jar...I have a horse fly, going to trade it in or a horse.
You can't trade a fly for a horse, replied Ole..."You'll see."
Sure enough, Lars came by leading a horse.
The nest day Lars is walking by...What's in the bucket?...Asked Sven.
"A bull frog, going to trade it for a bull."
Ole starts to laugh...You can't trade a from for a cow...to which Lars says..you'll see.
Sure enough a couple of hours later, here come Lars with a Bull.
Ole and Sven are just stumped.

A couple of blogs ago, I posted pics of the early morning moon.
I had forgotten about the evening shots of the sun.
The smoke is thick enough that you can look at the sun without squinting.
No clouds just smoke from Alaska and Canada.
I can only imagine what it must be like up there.

Sadly, these photo's do not show the true colors.
These were taken between 4an and 5 am when I was out fishing.
The redness was awesome.
I am sure it is in my settings why the color didn't come out.
I have been told it is the smoke from the fires in Alaska and Canada causing the red color.
Although, very pretty, I hope the fires are under control soon.

I still stand strong for our flag.
Sadly, I see less and less respect for the flag.
We the People have forgotten how this Nation was founded.
I have a great disdain for those the blow it off especially those who have not been in this country for very long.
Freedom of speech is in our constitution...but maybe we need to amend it in some way that you have to EARN that right.
Just a thought!
