candy stores: GOOD & PLENTY REMEMBER? - 02/04/15 11:05 PM
Go back in time to the innovative 1950's when anything you can think or do was fascinating and people flocked to it. That included TV, foods, cars, clothes and the way people conducted themselves too. It was an era that produced a certain type of thinking and remember, it was the other side of World War II coming to a close
HOME PURCHASE WAS EASY PEASY
To buy a home, as little as $1500 (purchase price) may do it as there were large tracts of land that were developed into what we call tract homes. You want one? You got one! It was … (8 comments)

candy stores: POWER OF THE PENNY IS GONE - 08/29/13 07:13 AM
I sensed it long before it became a reality. It was about about 25 years ago that I started not caring about the penny. Yes, I mentally gave up the support. The 25 years prior to that, I knew that it meant something. You see when I was growing up, a penny did some wonderful things
A PENNY OPEN SOME PRETTY BIG DOORS
You could go into a candy store (they call them liquor stores today) and not only purchase quite a bit with a penny, but have several good choices to do so. Yes, it is incredible to imagine that … (7 comments)

candy stores: WHY DO THINGS HAVE TO BE SO DARN EXPENSIVE - 07/17/12 01:37 AM
Whatever happened to the fun part of buying something? I am referring to a time in my growing up years where you could take a penny and go the store and have so many choices on what to spend it on. Let me remind you that there were even things that sold as 2 for a penny. Unbelievable, but true.
THOSE WERE MEANINGFUL TIMES
Now if a penny can do all that and mind you I am a kid, then a nickel can open you up to things that bring joy and wonder. A nickel means you may need a bag to … (4 comments)

candy stores: AMERICA ITS HOW YOU LOOK AT HER - 06/02/12 12:02 AM
My grandfather came to this country from Syria and right away was amazed. He brought with him all his beliefs and quickly realized some of those can stay and some have to go. You are in America now. He was in a state of awe where everything you see and everywhere you go is entertaining and educational...
THEY SELL MANURE IN BAGS HERE

candy stores: HALLOWEEN OFFERS INTERESTING THOUGHTS OVER THE YEARS - 10/06/11 05:19 AM
Mutli-millions of dollars worth of candy will be bought and then given away. For the candy companies, that is exactly what they want to have happen. How that campaign got started remains a mystery to me. Whatever the campaign was, it is here, successful, and now and operates on automatic. People buy lots of candy to just give it away
HALLOWEEN MEANS FREE CANDY
Don't get me wrong. It is a fun process for kids and I have fond memories of participating going door to door and getting the treats. Then, when you decide you have had enough, you go home … (5 comments)

candy stores: ICE CREAM TO A KID AND ICE CREAM TO AN ADULT IT'S NOT THE SAME - 09/19/11 04:03 AM
You see to an adult, ice cream is part of life to pass through. To a kid, it is life and there is nothing else. As a  kid eats ice cream, they enter into a world of their own full of sights and sounds muffled only by the thought of making sure nothing drips and gets away while you are eating. Whether on a cone, a stick or in a cup...this stuff makes memories
THE SECRET TO LIFE...ICE CREAM?
I read where they interviewed a 97 year old woman who was in good health and asked her what she would have … (5 comments)

candy stores: GOING TO THE DENTIST..... - 03/15/11 02:20 PM
When I was young, innocent and growing up in New York, you go anywhere in your neighborhood and everyone knows everybody. If you go to the local candy store, you get to order cigarettes, ice cream or medicines by saying my mom told me to come here and  then you ask for whatever and.... you would get it. A mothers word in Brooklyn, New York is the supreme court. The system worked and could not be abused because the communication between everyone was superior and constant. It was sacred.
TELL HIM MOM SAID
One day, the subject of getting my teeth … (4 comments)
