humbug: WHAT SCROOGE MEANT WHEN HE SAID HUMBUG

Many do not realize or even know the meaning of the word HUMBUG that is used by Scrooge in the famous story a Christmas Carol. When he was wished a Merry Christmas, or when he was solicited, he exclaimed HUMBUG...What he was saying is there is deception, fraud, nonsense, rubbish and hypocrisy a foot. He refused to play along WHAT HE BELIEVED You see he thought that everyone was being phony by practicing being merry this time of year when he knew that everyone was really suffering, in want, and in need but pretending they were not. The day of love and expression of love known as Valentines day will be upon us soon enough. Then, love will be in the air and Cupid can go from part time to full time plus over time too. As to SCROOGE, this day could not reach him. He could not give love or receive it...Truly, that is a poverty that the world can do without A CHRISTMAS STORY...TOLD AND RE-TOLD If you watch the many versions of the most famous tale of the Christmas spirit of forgiveness and repentance, you will see how his life ended up in a rut … (2 comments)
humbug: A CHRISTMAS CAROL NEPHEW FRED AND UNCLE SCROOGE BELIEFS DISAGREE

In the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol, we are introduced to an exchange or greeting between Scrooge and his nephew. The nephew loves life, goodness and its terms...things he learned from Scrooge's good sister (his mother) while Uncle Scrooge acts out the drudgery and woe of life things he learned through injustice and resentment. Two different beliefs clash and here is the exchange
Fred: A Merry Christmas to you, uncle! Ebenezer Scrooge: Bah! Humbug... What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough. Fred: What reason have you to be so dismal? You're rich enough. Ebenezer Scrooge: BAH! … (2 comments)
