I have had several requests to share my research on getting a Banana tree started. My wife says that I MUST share with everyone. (And I always do what my wife says...sometimes) Even with a brown thumb...YOU TO can make a Banana tree grow!!! So to review... Soil needs to be of the heavy and acidic type...6.8-6.6 is ideal. Choose a very ripe banana that has just a tinge of yellow left in it. Next, Plant the banana with about 1/2 sticking out and the stem on top! EXAMPLE:
Sprouting happens about 5-10 days later depending on weather.

Here in North Branch, Mn the flowers are in full bloom. Many of the fruit trees are on the downward swing. The wild flowers are starting to head out.
The flowering Crab trees have the bees all a buzz.
The flowering bushes give the spring such a nice feel.
And my Banana tree has sprouted the 3rd leaf.

banana tree: It took 3 years, but FINALLY, I got my Banana tree growing!

It has taken some time and some mistakes not to mention a couple dozen banana's. I will share a few secrete's for those with a greener than average Thumb. Stem of course needs to be up. Plant while cool with the Banana almost still having a yellow tinge of color. I found The photo below being the most successful. Heavy soil and on the acidic side...6.8-6.6 is optimal. Then water lightly and wait. Germination takes between 5-10 days depending on weather.
This is from about a week ago. The first sprout I saw.
