Well, I joined the new group because I think this will fit well into my life.
I am pushing 70 so I know I have to be closse to the oldest.
If nothing else, I think I have the oldest Jokes!
So it begges to question...Am I the oldest fart on this block...I bet we never find out!

fun stuff: Little voices ring!

WE were at my Gran Daughter's singing concert.
I love these as there is no real tone but a lot of volume.
The kids sing their hearts out.
You can see in their eyes how proud they are to have entertained us with song.
I am always amazed that these youngsters not even in kindergarten yet can learn the words.
Of course...thier brains are like sponges!

fun stuff: Not all Minnesota's Full Moons are the same...

I was watching the Full Moon yesterday come up over the old corn field.
I thought about some of the Full Moons that I have seen in the past. They are not all alike in North Branch Minnesota.
This one really caught my eye when I was fishing.
I think if I had my choice, I would take this one. I don't mind the cold, but soft water fishing is more fun.

We try and make the most out of winter.
Fishing on a frozen lake is really a high light if you can stay warm.
Many people use make shift shelters with heaters.
I was fishing with a cousin some years back, and a truck pulling his fish house (as we call them) into the lake. After a few minutes, he pulled it back past us the other way.
He must still not liked the area for he pulled his house past us again.
My cousin, bewildered by this asked me what was going on.

Kids love to try and catch a snowflake on their tongues.
I know that I did when I was a kid. ( They needed salt!)
It is still fun to do this with the very young.
But, with the air pollution, some say that we should not do this.
But if we listen to the experts, we should never get out of bed either.
So, Live dangerously and teach a kid how to have fun and pretend to be a child again!

I have been asked this by people I know or have met from the south.
It is hard to explain, but one example is at -25 you can take a cup of boiling water and throw it into the cold air and it will turn to snow.
So how cold is -30?
A farmer friend of mine told me that the morning when it was -30 that when he went to milk his cows all he got was...

Last night it was a tough tough night.
I fell asleep and started to dream.
In my dream, I agreed with a suggestion my wife had.
Stop Drinking
Stop Fishing
Stop Hunting.
After I had done all this, in my dream I looked in the mirror.
and...This is what I saw...
Believe me...I won't be giving into any demands of my wife's for a long time!!!

Referrals is one way, but I am not just talking Real Estate.
Last year I did a Solo at church.
No background music, but my bare voice.
I had NEVER done a solo before let alone without music accompaniment.
After our service, most everyone told me what a great job I did. Most said they would not have the guts to do it.
I took most of it with a grain of salt.
Well, this week I got an E-Mail from our Pastor wondering if I was doing a solo this year. I also had 2 members ask me the same … (10 comments)

fun stuff: Winter time is a great time to star gaze.

Crisp cool night make for some great star gazing. Sometime you can see some of the space junk moving through the sky. One night we counted 8 items in about an hour.
My wife one time say a UFO. Yes and I believe her. I am told I have to believe her, it is in our marriage vows.
I have heard of some pilots that have said they didn't report something in the sky because they felt people would ridicule them.
I guess in some ways I understand.

I stopped counting after about 5000.
I am talking about calories!
My wife puts on a great spread and even with only trying a little of everything, I was at 5000 on the first plateful.
Now as the ladies are getting ready to shop...(Fools)...They are leaving me home alone with...PIE!!! And real Whipped Cream topping.
I know that It will take me several weeks to work this all off...but for the moment of joy, it was worth it!
I will be like a baby again...Eat Sleep and poop!

fun stuff: Visitors to my Deer Stand.

For those the know about hunting a deer stand is a solitary set up.
You crawl up a tree or into a blindand it is just me myself and I!
But every now and again, I will get visitors.
This red pine squirrel was very interested in me, but didn't stay long.
Many of the forest creatures have stopped by and said hi over the years.
Part of the fun I have out in a Deer Stand.

AS I continue from yesterday. As I said that I was told I have gotten boring.
I seam to have lost my smile I was told.
So, this weekend I have decided to bring the smile back.
Don't underestimate young kids to have an answer.
In a early grade school class, the kids were allowed some free time to do what they liked.
Little Susie was drawing a picture.
"What is you picture of?" asked the teacher.
" I am drawing a picture of God." She replied
"Well Susie, no one what God looks like." The teacher informed her.

WE as Men, have been accused of wanting a lot of stuff.
NOT TRUE. Yes, there are a few things that we really want and or need, but they are not excessive.
I have a few examples of the simplicity of the items we would like and a few we want.
Here goes...
This is nice and sturdy.
A bit hard to see but it is an engine that holds up the glass table. Simple
No need to go out for a party. Again...simple.
Fits right in with my MAN CAVE!

Now to some of you this is just crazy...but for others we make our own fun.
Although we may get banged up a bit, we dust ourselves off and try it again.

I received several calls and E-mails wishing a Happy Birthday.
It seams that some people can't keep news like this under hats...can they Vern!
But, that being said, I do thank all those that responded to Vern's blog and to those that contacted me directly.
Now, for the rest of the night, I am going to shut business off, that is unless my phone rings!

I was truly amazed when I was sent all of these.
I have a hard time understanding when some of them were done and others shows imagination.
I don't know if there were contests or any reason why these were done especially the ones in part 2
I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.
I wonder how many times they got stuck in this maze while building it.

There is a mistake in the picture enclosed here. Look REAL hard and you may be able to see it.
I have shown this to several people who could not find the mistake and many others that said it jumped right out at them.
AS I said this is a fun Blog. I also found that a couple of liquid libations did hamper the ability for some people to find the mistake.

Ok, I am not a Master Chef, but I am in charge of the Chex Mix for the holidays.
Our family loves this snack. So mush that we could go broke buying the pre-made stuff. So, I have been relegated to making it from scratch.
The Family says it tastes better than what you buy ready made.
Well, that is because I add a secret ingredient.
That ingredient is....Now, com'on...If I told all of you...it would no longer be a secret!
